Pilot Synopsis
Samantha always hated how her Mother compared her to the young girl in the old photograph, until she had the opportunity to be that girl. Thanks to an heirloom locket, Samantha finds herself transported to a backwards world. But if this world is so different, why is everyone so familiar?

Samantha Hale

Samantha has spent her life living in the shadow of someone she's never met but who has the same name. Hopefully, going to boarding school will give Sam the chance to separate herself from her namesake and become her own person.

Rita Hale

Rita is Samantha's mother. Heartbroken after her childhood best friend left, Rita is thrilled her daughter is growing up to be just like her.

Abigail Nelson

Abigail is Samantha's aunt and Rita's sister. She sees how angry Sam is for being constantly compared to a ghost, but it's difficult to explain how groundless her anger is without using the real reasons.

Artist Profile

Gemina Vael is the artist for Mom's Best Friend. She goes to school at Southern Utah University and enjoys spending her time drawing and doing graphic design. She has drawn comics as a hobby for many years, and this is her first published work. Gemina is serious about becoming a professional manga artist. Her editor tells her that she's shown amazing improvement during this project.

Writer Profile
Nellie Kitchen has been writing for years, but her stories haven't been legible until recently. As hobbies, Nellie has posted her work online and won various story contests, but this is her first attempt at comic writing professionally.
