I slid around the corner on my heel and saw Renji lying on the ground. “Renji-kun!” I race over and drop to my knees beside him. “What are you all staring at, someone call an ambulance!” I scream at the passerby’s. He wasn’t bleeding, so what made him fall down? Did he slip on something? “Renji-kun, hey, Renji please wake up.” I rub his forehead and kiss his cheek. Hours later the ambulance finally arrives. “What the hell took you guys so long; he could’ve died if it was that serious!” They tried to explain to me that there were no ambulances in the surrounding area, but I was too worried to listen. “Just get him out of the store.” I yell in the paramedics face.

I’m riding in my car, following the ambulance to the hospital. “The hospital…” I sigh and try not to cry. It’s the same process and the same rude lady at the front desk. “Excuse me miss, I need to know how an Abarai, Renji is doing.” She looks at me and rolls her eyes. “One moment please.” I scoff just to get back at her, because I’ve had enough. She opens the doors, and I go back to see him sitting up on the bed. “KiKi…” He looks at me and I begin to jog over to him. “What happened sweety?” I place my hands on the sides of his face. “They said I passed out because I haven’t really been eating.” The doctor turns the corner and corrects Renji. “No, he passed out because of blood loss.” The doctor pulls up Renji’s sleeves to show all the cuts and scars.

I place my hand over my mouth in total shock. “Renji… I-I don’t know what to say to that.” Renji looks down at my shoes and almost frowns. “It’s the only thing that’s been able to calm me and keep me from going insane.” I put my hand under his chin to make him look at me. “You should have come and talked to me Abarai.” He nods and looks to the left. “Can he come home?” The Doctor shakes his head yes and we leave. The car ride home was silent, not one word was said; just a bunch of sighs. The cars now sitting in the drive way and I turn it off, we both sit there for a moment. “KiKi, I-I…” Renji pauses and takes a deep breath. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, I thought you would get upset with me. So, I kept it a secret.” Renji looks at me and takes my hand in his. I look out the car window. “Yeah, but Renji, this could have killed you. Then what would be left for me?”

Renji lets go of my hand and gets out of the car, “You comin’ inside?” I nod yes and sit there until he shuts the car door. “Oh Renji, you scare me sometimes.” I whisper to myself and get out of the car. I follow him inside; I lay my purse down on the side table and slump on the couch. Renji comes over and sits next to me. “Renji, why did you do that to yourself?” Renji pulls me under his arm; my head lays in his lap my face facing his. “Well, because… I miss Rukia, a lot and the pain I get from that… It’s unbearable at times.” I close my eyes and Renji runs his hand down my face. “But, you could have came and talked to me about it Red.” Renji agrees and stays quiet for a moment. “I mean Renji, cutting yourself was a stupid idea and you know it.” Renji plays with my hair. “I know, I’m sorry KiKi…” He leans down and presses his lips to mine. I kiss him back harder and run upstairs. “Where do you think your goin’?” Renji says playfully chasing after me.
