Forever lost
repulsive and shocking
above all imagenation
One state
many towns
loss of all
yours and mine
heartbreak, realization
ghastly truth revealed
as water receeds to banks
buildings ruined
homes demolished
belongings floating downstream
no where to return
children confussed
adults crying
could this be worse
than dieing
cleanup continues
buildings condemned
neighbors join together
lucky few
open up arms
and wallets
to others
theres no loss of faith
people smile, though have nothing
sharing stories to meer strangers
children smiling
opening up their banks
those with nothing
giving more than others
above all our thoughts
to those the prayers go
National disaster for all
sad but not alone
help from new friends
we all start to rebuild
all that is forever lost
This is a poem that I made a while ago, with the help of my friends and family. It is soley dedicated to the Flood Victims of '08. And to all of those who suffered or lost anything, my heart goes out to you all. People I know who were affected Jason Brook Emily Lacy Megan Johanna Chandler Mitch Mark Rebecca Caitlyn Laney Mrianda Uncle Dave And everyone else that isnt on this list

Please remember that these people have lost everything- the whole community has suffered. Everywhere we go you see signs that say things like "We are all in this together" or "We love you Cedar Rapids". you and I have no reasons to complain when we still have a home
