A blonde girl walked along a lonely, dirt path towards a town that was within eyesight. Her face had no expression and her gait was even and smooth. The dirt flew up around her, every time she took a step. Rain wasn’t coming as much as it used to and it wasn’t even summer yet.
She made her way to the town and walked by the stands with the same emotionless face. People avoided her, thinking she was dangerous. The girl kept walking. She began to smell fresh bread and sweet pastries the further she went into town. Her mouth began to water, for she was hungry. She didn’t stop or slow her pace at all. When she saw an ice cream stand, her eyes opened wide.
“ICE CREAM!” She ran over to the stand.
“Hello Ma’am, what would you like?”
“One large scoop of chocolate and vanilla.”
“Will that be all?”
“One scoop of cookie dough, a scoop of chocolate chocolate, a scoop of nutty buddy, and one more scoop of chocolate chocolate.”
The man handed her the ice cream and she laid the money on the counter. He slid it into his hand and said, “Have a nice day!”
The girl started walking again, the ice cream towering over her. When she was finished, she found herself in the richest part of the town. All the women wore fancy kimonos with their hair tied up in odd ways. And the men looked just as sharp, with their gold embroidered robes tied with a piece of silk.
“Well I’m definitely out of my price range,” mumbled the girl. But instead of turning back, she went to a jewelry stand close by. The item that caught her eye was a solid, crystal, blue stone that looked more like a rock with its rough, sharp edges.
“That, my lady, is the blue diamond. Only one ever found in the entire land.”
The girl looked up, “This thing is a diamond? But it looks so… plain and boring, like any old rock.”
The man chuckled, “This stone holds a lot more value than any old stone. It also has relatives.” He pointed to the other stones that were beside it. One was green, another black, a third one red, and the last one was white. The girl studied these before looking back at the man.
“And just how valuable are these stones?”
“Fifty keys.”
She almost dropped the stone she was so shocked, “FIFTY KEYS!!! How is that possible?!”
“Like I said earlier, these are the only ones of their kind. So it would be safe to imagine that these items would be high in value.”
“But not even the King of Olith could afford this!”
The man sighed, “Look, if your not going to buy anything then please, be on your way.”
She was just about to put the stone down when a flash of white and red went by her. The girl swerved around to see if she could catch a glimpse of the red and white creature.
“What the hell was that?!”
“NO!! MY STONES!”
She faced the man and, sure enough, all five of the stones were gone, even the one that was in her hand.
When she turned back around to see if there was anyone suspicious, her eyes instantly moved to a girl with long red hair at a weapon stand. She was wearing a long, black jacket with a high collar that covered her mouth, black pants and shoes, and hanging at her side was a long katana, about four feet long, with a red hilt, weaved in black material.
“You girl! What happened to my stones?” The man was furious.
“I’m not sure! But I can get them back for you. I’m a bounty hunter so I’ll track it down in no time,” she said, trying to get the man to calm down.
But as soon as she said she was a bounty hunter, the red haired girl pulled up her collar and walked away. The blonde hair girl followed her.
