Mitsukazu Mihara
Mitsukazu Mihara made her manga debut in 1994 with the short Gomu no Iranai Kodomo-tachi, winning a contest sponsored by the magazine eeling Young. She is perhaps most particularly well-known for the 'Gothic Lolita"' fashions that she dresses her characters in.
In addition to the Doll stories, she has also written Happy Family, a manga about the family of a boy with an Oedipus complex.

Motohiko Kirisima
A researcher for the SG Corporation, Motoko and his wife Kaoru devote themselves to develop dolls capable of learning and obtaining knowledge like a human. When Kaoru starts suffering some disease with unknown origin and losing her memories, Motohiko quits to take care of her.

Son of the the president of the SG Corporation who had an extremely traumatic childhood experience involving a doll.
Vanilla
One of original dolls made by Motohiko Kirishima, Vanilla meets the Remodeler at a black market.
Itsuki
A male doll, created by Motohiko Kirishima and remodeled by the Remodeler. After meeting Vanilla, the Remodeler gives Itsuki feelings so Itsuki and Vanilla can date.
