A lonely yet caring 15-year-old Chiaki, the half-angel daughter of the Archangel Michael and a human woman, welcomes into her home a dejected devil Ororon who pledges to stay at her side forever.

Both of them have been ostracized from their respective celestial realms -- Chiaki because her origins are impure and Ororon because he is the youngest son of the Lord Devil and therefore a threat to his older brothers for leadership of the underworld.

As various agents of heaven come by to destroy the angel Chiaki, she learns that having the incredibly powerful Ororon by her side is useful. And as assassin after assassin comes to eliminate Ororon, he learns that Chiaki can teach him a valuable lesson about the sanctity of life.

Mizuki Hakase's compelling manga first appeared in Japan as Akuma no Ororon in the April 1998 issue of Wings, and concluded its run there in the January 2001 issue.

Mizuki Hakase
Hakase-san is a frequent contributor to the Japanese manga magazine Wings in which she has published 3 series, Akuma no Ororon (The Demon Ororon), its sequel Mayonaka no Teikoku (Empire of Midnight), and a short story called Asian Beat which spawned a sequel, Asian Beat: Kizu.

She has also published Maybe Blue for D+ Magazine, which specializes in shounen-ai material. Her current work, Baku, is currently running in Wings.

Ororon
The youngest son of the Devil Lord Oz.

Chiaki
A half-angel daughter of the Archangel Michael and a human woman who has been ostracized from heaven because of her impurity of her parentage. Her closest relative, her grandfather, has recently died, leaving her alone in the world save for one friend, Rika. Now many of the spirit world want her dead, forcing her to remain indoors, in hiding.

Lady Miss Lucy
A housekeeper and cook brought into Chiaki's home by Ororon, who is not impressed with the angel's cooking.

Two demon cats.

Chika's last remaining friend and ally.

Osero
Ororon's brother.

Three Eyes
A bounty hunter recruited by Osero to be a part of the Blue Dragon Army that he leads. However, a rocky past between the bounty hunter and the devil may pit the two against each other.

Ororon's best friend.

Jano
Leader of a bounty hunting group after Ororon.

Oscar
Another of Ororon's brothers - he feels that killing his youngest sibling will ensure his own ascension to the throne of hell.

guys this is the romeo and juliet of mangas..totally amazing..worth every penny.. p.s. i heard that the sequal is still being made..so probably next year we'll see it in the states

i just got this book today and im already glued to it... its totally amazing O.O and i must say,its the first compleated collection of a manga i ever owned. so yay ^^ if your a fan buy it now O.O

yizzie: the artwork is pretty odd, but like u guessed, it gets better when ya get used to it. Men are beautifull, charles has long hair and othello is hot. atleast the artwork is unique. melos10: ya gotta be a real idiot to buy something just 'cos it's cheap.

I just bought this today. When I saw it I was like...OMFG(!!!!) FOUR VOLUMES OF A MANGA SERIES FOR ONLY $20.00!!!!!!!! THAT'S LIKE HALF WHAT I NORMALLY PAY! So I bought it without even reading the summary.

I saw this volume in Borders the other day and it is HUGE! I was going to pick it up becuase the story sounds pretty decent (well, that and the book just feels good when you hold it) but the artwork was a bit too odd for me. Is this one of those stories that gets better you get used to the art or what?

darn, my heart skipped a beat then. I thought..well i dont know what I thought but its not that bad. phew. so the only difference is the fact that its all four volumes in one? do you still get the side story about Othello and Yostuba at the end of the third volume? well, it matters naught to me, since I already own all four volumes. (they rock by the way, even though the ending made me cry)...wait a sec, looking at the four volumes next to each other on my bookcase...each manga is fairly large(thats good)...but won't that mean that this collection will be mega-fat? Harry potter and the order of the phoenix fat? (now that was a fat book)
