Isabella waved and walked off towards the band room. She put on her coat and opened the door that led outside of school. A cold blast of air was there to greet her and as usual, Isabella realized how easy it was to just slip off and never come back.
She went straight to the band room and was glad for the warmth of the room. Isabella went to the bells and practiced with the rest of the band.
Isabella couldnt understand why, but she couldnt wait for band to be over. Never had the class seem so long and today it seemed Mr. Abraham was yelling at them more than usual.
When the class finally ended, she practically power walked to chorus and was out of breath by the time she got to the front door. After she composed herself, she walked in and saw something that got her annoyed a bit.
There was Cain, sitting down in a chair looking a bit annoyed himself, and with at least the whole chorus girl population surrounding him. It wasn't just freshman girls, there was sophomore, juniors, and even SENIORS around this guy. The only thing that made Isabella feel better was the fact that he didn't seem to be enjoying himself.
Cains face lit up when he saw Isabella enter in and literally pushed many girls over just to get to her. He took Isabella's arm, which Isabella resisted at first but saw the desperate look on his face so relinquished, and led her to the farthest place from the flock of girls.
"I swear, those girls were tearing me from limb to limb! They kept asking me these questions and wouldnt stop talking to me. Even Mr. Weizer couldnt get them to sing because their multiple amount of questions were louder than his voice," Cain explained to Isabella very quickly.
Isabella quickly glanced towards the flock of girls and realized that it was a fatal mistake. Each of them looked like they were capable of killing Isabella just about now and she could feel the chill go down her spine at the looks.
"I don't think they'll bother me as long as you're hear," Cain said sitting down and offered the chair next to him to Isabella.
"So what am I, your little scapegoat?" Isabella said in a slightly stung voice.
"Nope, youre the first and most helpful friend I've made in this school so far and I'll never forget you for that," Cain said sincerely.
Isabella brightened at this comment and they sat there talking about all the different interest in their life.
Isabella couldn't believe time passed as fast as it did and felt slightly sad that she wouldn't be talking to Cain but was shocked again to find out that he also had gym class last period.
"Wow, it just seems like I cant get away from you," Cain said laughing.
Isabella laughed a bit more nervously and was starting to wonder about these little coincidences. There was a bit too much of them.
They walked to the gym and Cain found out that he had a different coach. Cain looked a bit upset but Isabella was kind of relieved. No more coincidences, she didnt know if she could take anymore of them.
After getting changed, Katelin asked Isabella who the guy was that walked in with her. Isabella talked to Katelin about Cain while they were getting dressed for gym.
Isabella went out first with Katelin right behind her. They started the gym class with the usual 10 minutes of running. Kevin and Larry wouldnt stop questioning Isabella about Cain, who was apparently looking for a locker to put his gym clothes in.
Eventually, Isabella told the two of them to shut up, which slightly shocked Kevin and Larry but theyve all known each other since elementary school and that was the only reason that Isabella would be bold enough to tell them to shut their yappers.
Cain came out in time for basketball. He ended up facing Isabella's team, another coincidence that Isabella was getting really irked about. Most of the girls sat out on both teams to watch Cain play. The bolder girls that did play, always made sure they were there to block Cain just to touch him. It disgusted Isabella to no end.
What stunned Isabella was the fact that Cain was good at basketball. It was amazing watching Cain make one score after another.
Eventually, one of the guys on Isabellas team became a sore loser about Cain scoring all the time and decided to sit. No one would go in and Isabella was trying not to be noticed when Katelin, un-luckily on the other team, called Isabella out to the court.
Isabella inwardly groaned and stood next to Katelin during most of the game. They talked more about Christmas break and the people they hung out with and the places they went to.
During the game, Isabella heard her name being called and turned to see the basketball coming at her. She caught the ball in a slightly shocked state but got into the game as if she was playing the whole time.
Isabella noticed that many of the girls on her team were too busy pawing Cain for him to block Isabella. She realized this was the chance to make a shot without anyone blocking her. Isabella dribbled up to the basket and made a corner shot. The basketball went in with a swoosh and someone on her team made a victory cry, being that it was the first score her sorry team made.
As Isabella walked back towards Katelin, she noticed Cain had his hand out in the form of a hi-five. Isabella, feeling confident at the time, pretended to almost hi-five him but quickly turned away while sticking her tongue out at him.
Isabella nearly burst out laughing at the shocked expression on Cains face. She walked towards Katelin and could hear Cain laughing softly behind her.
"Seems you guys are kinda close," Katelin commented in a very sly voice.
"It's not what you think. We just happened to become fast friends, that's all," Isabella said defensively.
"Exactly the excuse Sabrina used," Katelin combated.
"Yea, but do you see her and Elliot going out? Or her and Justin?" Isabella argued defensively.
"Hm, you have a point but Sabrina makes friends easily too. You, no offense, on the other hand are not as sugar highed and loud," Katelin commented.
Isabella couldn't think of anything to say and decided to sit out for the rest of gym class. She had done enough for the team, scoring then one point and later on, only to find out that it was their only one.
Isabella went up to her locker first, not wanting to have girls stare at her while Cain walked with her. She had enough of that for today and was ready to go home and get some rest.
Isabella actually didn't see Cain at his locker at all and went to the front door to catch her bus.
She got home and decided that she just didn't feel like doing her homework yet. Her being the procrastinator that she was.
The day passed as usual with nothing interesting happening besides the once in awhile cooing of her birds. Isabella called Sabrina at 8:30, knowing that the restaurant couldn't be busy at this time.
There were two rings before someone picked up and answered, "Golden Cheng, can I please help you?"
"Is Sabrina there?"
"This is her speaking."
"Hi! It's me, Bella."
"Oh, and here I thought it was a stalker who called 411 to get this phone number."
Isabella laughed at this comment and could hear Sabrina chuckle at her own joke.
"So, what up, Bella?"
"Well, I meant that new guy that you were trying to tell me about. "
"Really, is that so? Wasn't he cute, though? "
"I've got to admit, he did have his good looks but he sure attracts too much attention from the girls. Not only that, hes kinda flirt-tish."
"Whoa, when did you guys get to know each other this well? "
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, he's in my world history, lunch, chorus, and gym class. And by the way, his names Cain. "
"You lucky girl you. But with the way you said it, it all sounded like he was a bad person. "
"He's not all that bad, he's got good points, too. "
"Such as..?"
"Well, major good point is that he's not preppy. "
"His score is currently at 1000 just because of that. "
"He hates preppy people. "
"I think I'm falling for this guy as you speak. "
"He paid for my lunch today."
"Maybe he'll pay for the date tab too. "
"He has piercings and a tattoo. "
"I'm not gonna say that thats a particularly a good thing."
"He's kinda athletic."
"Hmm, I'll let you decided whether thats a good thing of not. "
"And I'm sure he has some more that we dont know about yet."
"And bad points, I'm sure of it. "
They continued to talk about the attention that Cain attracted at school and what finally hung up at 10:00. Isabella was doing her homework during the conversation and found that she hardly had any left. She finished the rest of her homework and decided to go to bed early or else shell wake up will even darker circles under her eyes.
