Tollie01's Rating: 3 of 5
Review Time. Today lets look at the anime Moon Phase

Genre. Comedy/action

Rating. 13 years and older.

STORY.

Kouhei is working as a photographer for a magazine that specializes is myth and mysteries. While investigating a castle in Germany he meets a young girl called Hazuki who lives there. Intreaged by her he starts to talk to her and learns that she is trapped in the castle and that she needs his help to break free. After he frees her he learns that she is in fact a vampire and she tells him that he is her slave. Kouhei however is completely uneffected by her bite and her powers and goes home followed by Hazuki who refuses to give up her slave. She even moves in with him but this is only the start of all the trouble as the people who locked her into the castle have learned that she has escaped and are tryig to recapture her. These people aren't normal however and they are in fact vampires sent by Hazuki's father who is the vampire king. Rouhei's family however is made up out of powerful psychics. As the battle between the two groups heats up Kouhei is starting to study with his relatives in a effort to learn the skills to join the fight. Will they succeed in saving Hazuki?

CHARACTERS.

Kouhei. Although he travels all over the world investigating psychic phenomenon and he is from a psychic family he is in fact completely insensitive to it. He is very kind and gentle and as his own mother disappeared years ago he agrees to help Hazuki find her mother.

Hazuki/Luna. She is a young vampire girl who is freed by Kouhei. She tries to make him her slave but as he is completely incensitive to her powers he refuses to do her bidding. She is very proud and stubborn and is used to getting what she wants. Luna is a alter ego that was forced on her by her father and she is in many ways the oposite of Hazuke. She is very cold, cruel and shows no emotion.

Hiromi. She is Kouhei's friend and colleage. She got hime the job as a photographer and the main reason he is so succesful is because almost every picture Kouhei makes shows spirits and ghosts. She has a huge crush on Kouhei's cousin Seiji.

Seiji. He is Kouhei's cousin and a powerful psychic who also works for the magazine.

Kinkel. A very poweful vampire who is tasked with the care for Hazuki. He is pure evil and loves to inflict pain and suffering.

Elfriede. She is the daughter of Kinkel and she was made a vampire by him. This also made her his slave and she must do his bidding. She has been searching for a way to free herself from his service and as Kouhei is immune to vampire powers thinks that he holds the answer to her freedom.

Haiji. A small spirit that comes to serve Hazuki. At first it looks like a cat but it usually appears as a small doll-like creature. Although it's purpose is to serve it's master it has a mind of it's own.

Kaoru/Hikaru. Two sisters from Kouhei and Seiji's family and their fiancées. Kaoru is a very shy, clumsy girl who is betrothed to Kouhei. Hikaru is very Kaoru's opposite and she is betrothed to Seiji. Hikaru is very protective of her sister but both are powerful psychics.

ART & MUSIC.

Both the art (5/5) and music (5/5) are excellent.

VOICE ACTING

The Japanese acting was great as usual (5/5). I didn't see the English dub so i have no idea how good or bad it was. I do really hate the voices they pick for those very shy girls like Kaoru. As they tend to speak very very very very quietly you are always straining to hear what the heck they are saying.

Personal note. For those who know me a bit you probably notices that i like vampire stories. This one though i didn't like all that much. I think the problem was that it just wouldn't make up it's mind what sort of story it was going to be. For the most part of the show i look at it and think "kiddy stuff" and then something happens that makes me think that this should be aired sometime around midnight. There is no balance between these two sides which is not exactly confusing but annoying. Overall the show is definately made for the 10+ children. There are a few other things that have even me worried (scary fact this). It has to do with Kaoru and Hikaru who are betrothed to Kouhei and Seiji. This ahould be no problem and makes for a lot of fun as Hazuki is firmly attached to Kouhei and Hiromi is deep into Seiji. The problem is the fact that they are both around 10 years old.....!? Not only that but they are actively chasing after their men which at times is very disturbing to see. Actually the Hazuki x Kouhei pairing that they are trying is equally disturbing because, although a bit older, Hazuki looks to be about 13. Other than this there is very little blood and no gore. Hazuki does need to feed evry once in a while but she tends to call this *ahem* "Kissing".

If you have any questions please let me know. Also tips and comments about how i can make this sort of blog better are more than welcome.

Wow. As usual, your personal note is the real skinny on the anime. Sounds weird. The vampirism must have gone to the animators' heads! LOL!
