It was Sunday and the train station was quiet, there weren’t a lot of people that waited on the platform and those that did were quiet and kept to themselves. The clouds hung over the sky and the weather was dismal. The only sounds came from across the train tracks and behind the fence stood the airport which had airplanes flying in and out every ten minutes. Walking out of the station building was Tai, Kari and Lance. Kari was wearing a pair of black jeans and had a black zip up hoody covering a white t shirt. Tai was wearing a pair of black trousers and had a black shirt under his black hoody along with his leather trench coat. Lance was wearing a pair of blue denim jeans and a black jumper and a dark blue jacket. Tai and Lance both carried a small suit case each and Kari had her back pack slung over one shoulder and was carrying a grey cat holder with Spud inside. As Tai and Kari sat down, Lance walked over to the screens to check on train times. “I’m going to miss you Tai”
“Same here Kari” Tai said as Spud started to meow. “I know Spud, I’m going to miss you too” Tai said as he stuck his finger through the cage bars. “What time do you reckon you’ll be back?”
“Not until five o clock but we’re hoping to catch an earlier train home from Manchester and we’re hoping the train is direct so we won’t have to stop off in London for half an hour” Tai said as he put his suit case down. “I don’t suppose you could tell me what the password is for the data screen?”
“Remember” Kari answered as she looked down the tracks. “Remember? Remember what?”
“Remember” Kari repeated as she placed her hand on Tai’s leg. “This is going to be confusing” Tai said as he looked at his data screen. “Don’t worry Tai, you’re smart, you’ll figure it out” Kari said as Lance walked back to them. “Well we have another ten minutes before the train gets here so we might aswell wait inside, at least then it wont be as chilly” Lance explained and the both got up from the bench and walked through the blue automatic doors and into the brightly lit waiting area. There was a ticket kiosk and a VIP waiting room next to that. At the other side were a café and a news stand next to that selling magazines, drinks and food and opposite that was a set of vending machines separated by four rows of blue chairs. “I’m going to get a magazine. Do you want one for the journey?”
“Yeah, see if they’ve got any gaming magazines”
“What about you Kari?”
“Don’t worry about me Lance but thanks for offering”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah don’t worry” Kari said as Spud started to meow. “Alright well I’ll be five minutes” Lance said and walked over towards the news stand. “I hope you’ll be alright on your own at school”
“Don’t worry Tai, I’ll be fine. Just remember to message me every morning and night, at least then I’ll know you’re still thinking of me”
“Don’t worry Kari, I will” Tai said as they heard a train rush by. “Luckily that wasn’t our train”
“It would be stupid if it was”
“Then again, trains have always been stupid. I remember a time when I went to see Iron Maiden in London for the first time”
“I don’t think you told me about that”
“Well it was me, Lance and some friends of mine and about three years ago in December. We left at five thirty in the evening and didn’t get up to London until seven thirty and then we had to navigate around the underground tube stations and by the time we got to Earls Court; the support act had finished”
“Who was the support act?”
“Trivium”
“Oh well at least it was no one special”
“We all thought that at the time but fortunately we saw Iron Maiden, although there were sound problems half way through the performance”
“What happened?”
“The sound cables caught fire and had to removed, replaced and restarted which took up to half an hours performance”
“Dam, what tour was it?”
“I can’t remember, I know it was a world tour but I just can’t remember what album it exactly was”
“Cool, so what happened after?”
“Well when we left Earl’s Court we had to find an alternative tube station after the one closest to the venue was closed so us and everyone else walked down twelve different streets… although I think it was twelve”
“We’ll just say its twelve streets”
“Let’s go for twelve” Tai continued. “Well when we reached the tube station we had to go through three different trains and when we finally reached the train station; we were late for the second to last train home by a minute”
“That was unlucky”
“Yeah but we didn’t care. We just had to wait around forty minutes for the last train home but it was still pretty cool” Tai said as Lance walked towards them both, carrying two different magazines.
“This is a call to all passengers taking the Virgin Trains Southampton to Manchester at five thirty. The train will be pulling up to the station in a minute. Thank you”
“Well that’s our train Tai” Lance said as they got back up. “Well I guess I’ll see you on Tuesday”
“I’ll see you then Tai” Kari said as they walked out onto the platform.
“You should save you’re good byes for when we are on the train” Lance said as the train pulled up in front of the station. “Well I’ll see you Tuesday”
“See you then Kari. Keep yourself busy” Tai said as they started to kiss. As they stopped; Spud let off a loud meow. “Oh I’m sorry Spud, don’t worry I’ll be back on Tuesday and Kari will be with you”
“Come on Tai, we best get a seat” Lance said as the doors opened up. “Don’t forget to contact me every night Tai”
“Don’t worry Kari, I’ll remember” Tai said as he followed Lance onto the train. As Kari watched, she saw Tai and Lance walk towards the nearest window seat and open the window. “Keep yourself busy Kari”
“Will do Tai, Don’t worry I’ll be fine. Just make it back on Tuesday” Kari said as the doors closed up. “I’ll be there Kari. Just relax” Tai said as the trains started to move out. “See you Tuesday Kari!”
“See you then Tai!” Kari shouted back and waved them off. “Well Spud, let’s head for school” Kari said as they walked towards the car park. Although the train had only just left, she already missed Tai and Spud felt the same way when he started to meow.
Haley and Kai was stood in front of a black sports car and looked over towards Kari. “Are you ready then Kari?” Haley asked as she joined them. “Yeah lets go”
“Well Kari; you don’t have to worry about being bored this evening, we have a mission for you to go on” Kai said as he handed Kari a file. “What’s the mission?”
“Just a fact finding mission, we have a contact that has been under constant GPDN surveillance after he sold dangerous weapons to enemy factions. We need to find out if he has contacted Koidra about viral weaponry and if he has a way of dispensing it” Kai explained as they got in the car and drove off. “Who will I be working with?”
“Nick and I” Kai answered as they drove out on to the motorway. “When do we leave?”
“As soon as we get back. Haley; care to engage the warp drives?”
“I’m on it” Haley said and flicked the switch for the warp drive, making the car disappear in a flash of blue light and out of sight from the other drivers.

At the same time; the car appeared out of no where inside the garage of the GPDN base and Haley, Kai and Kari walked out of the car. Kari was carrying both her back pack and the cat holder when Spud had only just stopped meowing loudly. “So where should I put Spud?”
“Just take him over to the practice area with Knight” Haley continued as they walked towards her office. “Meet us here in five minutes”
“Will do Haley” Kari said and walked towards the training rooms.
The walls were painted cream and shelves and racks had been set up all around. There was a light brown desk next to the door and someone was busy filling out paper work. She was tall and had fair blonde hair. She was wearing a pair of black denim jeans and a purple t shirt. “Hey Christina, where should I put Spud?”
“So this is Spud” Christina continued with a soft tone of voice. “You can just let him out here and he should be fine” Christina finished as Kari put the cat carrier down and unlocked it, allowing Spud to walk out of the carrier and he cautiously started to observe his surroundings. As Spud looked around the practice area; he looked towards a corner in the room and saw a red dog like creature lying down, sleeping and he patted his tail against the wall. “Lets see what happens when those two meet” Kari said as they watched Spud cautiously prowl towards the dog like creature and start sniff its back paw, causing it to shake and slowly rise up and look at Spud but it thought nothing of it. As the creature walked away, Spud looked at its tail and started to lick its lips while his eyes enlarged. “Spud, don’t do anything stupid now” Kari said as Spud crouched down, ready to pounce. “Don’t worry about them Kari. They’ll be fine” As Christina said that; they saw Spud jump for the tail and missed it, landing at the side of the creature, causing it to growl. “Come on Knight, Spud is younger than you and a lot more playful”
“How old is Knight?”
“We have no idea; we still have no idea what animal Knight is. We’ve estimated that he’s around seven years old” Christina explained as Spud tried jumping for Knights tail for the second time. “Kari, you’re needed” Kai shouted out as Kari looked over. “I’ll speak to you later”
“Later Kari” Christina said and Kari walked out of the practice rooms and towards Haley’s office.
“O.K. now that everyone is here, we can begin” Haley said as Kari took a seat. Haley was standing in front of an interactive white board. Kai, Kari and another person had each taken a seat opposite her. The third person was around the same height as Christina and had scruffy black hair. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and a black t shirt. “Alright, as you know; our intelligence has indicated that Koidra has developed viral weaponry and we believe that a suspect of the GPDN; Jeevs Floyd, is supplying the way to distribute the virus. It will be your job to get answers from Jeevs”
“What else do we know about Jeevs?” Kari asked as she looked at the file. “Jeevs works as a shop owner which specialises in exotic items including drugs, bong pipes and weapons. As you know; Jeevs sold weapons to enemy factions including Al Qaeda aswell as to Koidra and his factions. He also supplied weapons to the secret police in Johannesburg during two thousand and seven”
“Not the most pleasant of people to work with then”
“Fortunately not. Well onto the mission, you three will talk to Jeevs and find out anything and everything he’s got to say. If need be, call in for back up and we shall arrest him. Just be careful; he has a number of tricks up his sleeves” Haley said as she sat down. “Any questions?”
“I’m fine” Kari said first as she put the file down. “Well if there’s nothing else you need, you are free to leave for the mission”
“What gadgets are being issued?” Nick asked with a nervous voice as he sat back. “Standard data screens, holographic bands and guns”
“What kind of guns?” Kai asked. “Just the normal pistols. Oh and I am authorising the battle gear”
“All right Haley, I want a chemical hazards team, viral hazards team and a swat team to be called upon when ever I activate the beacon”
“It will be done Kai”
“Let’s get ready” Nick said and they walked out of the office and out into the main part of the base. “Alright guys, we’ll only use chest pieces for the battle gear, there’s no point in going full gear” Kai said as they walked towards the armoury.
It was quiet, no agents were in there and only Kai, Kari and Nick walked in and looked around. “All right, you know the drill; get the armour and the guns and we are good to go”
“What car are we taking?” Nick asked as he picked up a pair of black holsters and placed them around his waist. “We’ll take my car”
“I was wondering when you were going to show you’re car”
“What one is his car?”
“Dodge Ram SRT ten. He’s been working on the car for over a year now” Nick explained as he took a piece of chest armour and walked around to join Kai, leaving Kari on her own to get ready. As she took the piece of battle armour, she could remember back to her second mission and where Tai had shot her while she had been taken over by daemons but it did not stop her. Although she was nervous about what was about to happen, she didn’t care about the little things. Removing her hoody, she looked on towards the two pistols, holster and ammo clips that lay before her. As she resumed getting ready. As she took her t shirt off, she started to rub her shoulder where the bullet impacted during October. Taking the chest armour; Kari placed it over her shoulders and allowed it to slip down and morph to fit her body shape. “That’s better” Kari said as she took her t shirt from the bench and put it on. “Well I better get going” Kari said as she took the holsters and placed them around her waist and checked both pistols for ammo and then placed them in both holsters. “Alright, it’s time to rock” Kari said as she put her hoody on and walked out of the armoury.
“Alright then, are you all ready?” Kai asked as Kari joined them. “Let’s get going” Nick answered and they walked out towards the garage.
Towards the back of the garage was a fire engine red 4X4 with chrome plated wheels. The interior was black suede and the licence plated showed the word “hunter” written in black writing. “Nice car”
“Thanks Kari. Unfortunately with all the upgrades I’ve put in the car, I can’t actually use this on the road”
“That sucks” Kari said as she climbed in the back seat. “Alright then, next stop; Jeevs”
“Where is this place?”
“Southampton City Centre, up by the business district” Kai answered as he revved up the engine and drove onto the path. “Warp Drive coordinates have been inputted. We are ready to go Kai” Nick said as they drove up the ramp and disappeared into a flash of blue light.

In the city centre; everything was quiet. Along a row of shops; all but one was closed. It was dimly lit on the outside and you could barely see anything through the red velvet covered windows and the white door frame. As time went on, a flash of blue light appeared and the car drove out and parked outside the shop. “Alright guys, put the safety on the pistols, we don’t want anything happening during this mission”
“And what if he starts shooting at us?” Kari asked as they walked outside the shop. “Well drop to the floor, draw your pistols, turn the safety off and disarm the bastard but try to just shoot him in the hand”
“So I’m guessing we’re not going with the standard run in, all guns blazing, shoot everything in sight and hope to hit the target?”
“I’m afraid not this time Nick” Kai said as they walked inside the shop. The floor was covered in a sticky carpet that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a while. The walls were covered with shelves that contained various gong pipes and different coloured objects. As they walked towards the counter; someone walked out towards them and looked up at Nick and Kai. He was short and grungy. He was wearing a purple tracksuit which had been soiled. He had no hair and his nose was crooked and his eyes were out of line and did not line up with his ears. “Hello Jeevs” Kai said as Jeevs looked in a little black book that he took out from under the till.
“Agent Vallo, Agent Navarro; what can I do for you? And who is this young lady?” Jeevs asked with a sharp voice. “Nothing today Jeevs, we are here on official GPDN business and this is Agent Fuji”
“So I can’t offer you a sample of fresh opium from the Far East or the freshest weed from America?”
“No, now we have some questions we want to ask you” Nick said as he walked up to the counter. “We have reason to believe that you’ve been in touch with an old friend of yours”
“Maybe, it depends on whom”
“Victor Koidra”
“That jumped up batty boy? I would rather die”
“That could be arranged Jeevs” Kai said as he pulled out his pistol and turned the safety off. “Now I’m going to count to five”
“I’ll count to three” Jeevs said as he pulled out an Uzi but Kari just held up her pistol causing Jeevs to lower his gun. “Now five… four… three…”
“Alright alright I’ll squeal. Koidra needed something to contain a viral infection that is a compressed gas and he needed something big”
“What is this viral infection?”
“I don’t know”
“Two!”
“Alright! It infects the blood stream and turns people into zombies”
“How long until it can be launched?”
“Soon”
“How soon?”
“I don’t know”
“One!”
“Alright, it can be launch now if he wanted to?”
“Does he have a time?”
“He said just before midnight. You’re going to have to protect me Vallo, now that I told you, if Koidra finds out then I’m dead”
“Don’t worry, now is there anything else?” Kai asked as Nick stepped forward. “Just one thing” Jeevs continued as he moved his Uzi away. “I have a sample of the virus if you want it?” he asked, causing the others to look confused. “Are you saying that you are going to give us the sample of the virus?” Kari asked as she looked into his eyes. “That’s right, Navarro, would you like a sample of the virus?” he asked as Nick turned to Kai, getting a nod in return and Nick walked towards Jeevs. “Wait a second… Nick get away from him” Kari said as she shot Jeevs Uzi out of his hand. As the Uzi dropped to the floor; it accidentally fired and wounded Nick in the leg and Jeevs dashed out of the room and both Kari and Kai ran towards Nick. “Kari, go after Jeevs and make sure he pays”
“Got it Kai” Kari said as Kai put pressure to the wound and Kari ran out into the back room, trying to track down Jeevs. “Alright Rosa; where do you think he is?”
“Behind that door, but be careful Kari, in one hand he’s got a gun, and in the other he’s got a vial of green liquid. It could be the virus” Kari heard a soft voice in her head and cautiously stepped forward. “You are a fool agent. You won’t be able to beat me” Jeevs said but Kari remained silent and kept walking towards the direction of the voice. “A silent type, well you certainly saved your friend” Jeevs said as Kari took out her second pistol and turned the safety off. “Let’s hope you can save yourself from this!” Jeevs shouted and ran out from behind the door, firing blindly into the other room but Kari dropped to the floor and took three shots at Jeevs ankles and watched as he dropped his gun and looked towards Kari. “You are good, so aren’t you going to arrest me?” he asked but Kari didn’t answer, she simply got back on her feet and looked towards the shop. “Agent Vallo, he’s down. What should I do?” Kari asked and Kai walked through to join them. “Good work Agent Fuji, alright Jeevs, why did you try to kill Navarro?”
“With you three out of the picture, I would be free and Koidra would never have found out I told you”
“Where will the virus hit first?” Kari asked. “The only target would be Southampton, then Koidra would go to Portsmouth and destroy it but don’t worry about the virus; it’s already in Southampton”
“What?” Kai asked and Jeevs dug into his jacket pocket and clenched his fist. “What do you mean the virus is already in Southampton?” Kai asked and Jeevs slammed his hand on the floor, smashing the vial on the ground, a green vapour came up from the ground and quickly spread around the room. “Oh shit” Kai said as both he and Kari covered their mouths and noses and walked back out. “You see it’s already here, you two are doomed along with the rest of Southampton” Jeevs said in hysterics and Kari and Kai ran out into the shop and there were already agents moving Nick out of the shop.
“What happened?” an agent asked as he walked up to Kai and Kari who was still coughing. He was wearing a full hazard suit and had a respirator on. “We have a wounded suspect with gun shots to the ankles and a virus that both Kari and I have inhaled. How’s Nick?”
“He’ll be on crutches for a couple of weeks but he’ll be fine. Now you said about a virus that has been inhaled”
“Yes and there’s going to be more of that by early morning tomorrow. We need to evacuate Southampton and sort out an antidote immediately”
“If you two have been infected then we need to get you both in quarantine immediately” the agent said as he led them to a black van. “Oh and can you get my car back to the Southampton base. Here’s the keys”
“Which one is your car?”
“Red Dodge”
“That’s your car? Sweet” the agent said with a hint of pleasure in his voice.
As Kai and Kari climbed in the van, they were met by agents who were in similar hazard suits who sat them down in a clear plastic cell.
“Alright I’m going to have to take a sample of your blood so we can get to work on an antidote” an agent said as she took a syringe from the draw and took Kari’s arm. “Alright then hold still” she said as she injected the needle into Kari’s arm, causing her to flinch as the syringe filled up with her blood. “There you go” she said as she covered the syringe with a casing and placed a bandage on Kari’s arm. As Kari looked on, Kai was receiving the same injection. Kari was scared and was getting nervous. “Don’t worry Kari, everything will be o.k. I promise” Kai said in an attempt to cheer her up. “I hope so Kai, I hope so” Kari said quietly and the back doors of the van closed up and drove away from the shop.
