I have gotten this question in my head and it's been messing with my head... Is it true that you must follow the guideline to drawing manga or any work of cartoon?

People have there own style. you have to make it you own. So I say no are you would not be unique
once u fig. it out make it ur own
Find out wat makes that 'something' what it is. u kno? like American style comics and manga- wat makes them dif? Art style? panels? tones? Or wat makes a cartoon? etc
i wud say sumtyms niao O___O coz u also hav to be unique while playing at their own game otherwise ur in a diferent league

sometimes but not all the times the guidelines are there to help you draw better like them but if you can up with a style that works for you then the guidelines set out for you then good for it.
